©  One of the special people to me was Dorothy, the custodian. I  believe that I first knew her in 1st grade at the little school in Deptford Homes. She helped prepare very good meals for us then, and I always had a special place for her in my heart. She was so nice to children. When I married and had children of my own, four of them went to Eli Whitney before we moved to Richmond Hill. Dorothy was the custodian for them, too. She always asked about Frank, Davis, Eddie, Susan and Helen. I do not think Peggy went to Eli Whitney.

©  My most special person was Mrs. Pollard, my first grade teacher. I was the first to leave the nest and did not want to go. I fought to stay home every morning and would run home if given the opportunity. She would walk to our home, talk to me and walk me back. She took the time to care about me. She taught me to love school, and I still love learning.
